The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth and JTF
The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth supports Slite CCS within the Just Transition Fund (JTF). The support of approximately SEK 70 million is earmarked for the years 2024-2026 for project preparation efforts that enable the subsequent establishment of a CCS plant in Slite in 2030.
JTF is an EU fund that focuses on industries and counties with very high carbon dioxide emissions. The fund will contribute to reducing emissions and tackling the challenges that come with the transition.
The Swedish Energy Agency and Industriklivet
The Swedish Energy Agency supports climate change in the cement industry and the CCS project at Heidelberg Materials' plant in Slite within Industriklivet. To date, the support from Industriklivet amounts to a total of just over SEK 63 million for the implementation of the pre-feasibility study (completed in 2022) and the feasibility study, (completed in the spring of 2024).
Industriklivet is an initiative decided by the Swedish government and aims to reach the climate policy goals by supporting the process industry to reduce and even reach negative greenhouse emissions. Industriklivet is part of the EU's Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), an element of NextGenerationEU, which, among other things, is set to contribute to a more environmentally friendly EU.
